Strategy

The Buffalo Science & Technology Fund seeks long-term capital growth by investing at least 80% of its total assets in common stocks and other equity securities of companies expected to benefit from the development, advancement and use of science and technology. Using intensive fundamental research and analysis of long-term trends, the Fund invests in companies of all market capitalizations that the fund manager believes have prospects for above-average earnings. This includes small companies that are developing new technologies as well as blue chip firms with established track records of developing, producing or distributing products and services in the science and technology industries.

Investment Team

The Buffalo Science and Technology Fund is managed by a team of investment professionals at Kornitzer Capital Management (KCM). The management team consists of Elizabeth Jones, MD, CFA (left), Dave Carlsen, CFA (center), and Clay Brethour (right), CFA.

Elizabeth Jones, MD, CFA joined KCM in 2003. She was previously a research analyst with Bank of America Capital Management. Jones received a B.S. from Georgetown University, M.D. from Vanderbilt University, and a M.B.A. from Arizona State University. She has more than 7 years of investment experience and 12 years of healthcare industry experience. Dave Carlsen, CFA, joined KCM in 2004. He has over 17 years investment experience. Carlsen was formerly senior equity research analyst for technology at Strong Capital Management, Inc., in Milwaukee, and also worked for Northern Capital Management, Inc. Carlsen received a B.S. in finance and investments from the University of Wisconsin. Clay Brethour, CFA joined KCM in 2000. Brethour has over 17 years investment experience. He was previously with Security Benefit Group and Dain Rauscher Wessels. Brethour holds a B.S. in Business-Finance from Kansas State University.
